Gwynn’s Picks: Husk Restaurant

We’ve been here for over 50 years, so we know a thing or two about the Charleston lifestyle. We’ve decided to share our top picks for what you should experience while in Charleston— whether you’re a native that’s lived here your whole life or a tourist that’s planning your very first trip. We’ll begin the series with “where to dine” and one of the first places that came to mind.

Set in a Queen Anne-style façade that dates back to the late 1800’s, Husk seamlessly blends local, traditional practices with modern-day style and techniques to create what they refer to as “the new South”.  They’re known for incorporating the region in every aspect of their dining experience, especially in the sourcing of their ingredients and stellar culinary service.

Dress code: casually chic (we recommend jeans with a fancier top for both males + females)

Don’t leave without trying: the cornbread + homemade butter, or KD’s personal fave – The Husk cheeseburger with fried potato wedges

Best seat in the house: upstairs patio or one of the bar’s red couches (located next door and open after 3pm)

When to go: honestly, lunch or dinner…just be sure to make a reservation for either meal well in advance, the restaurant fills up quickly

While you wait: snap a picture in front of The Mills House’s pink wall (made famous on IG) across the street from Husk. To make it authentically Charleston make sure you get the Palmetto trees and gas lanterns in the shot.
